Isn't the Avid Generic PlugIn the new Avid engine? I've read here that it works but sometimes is problematic and in some cases forcing Avid to use a more specific ama plug in when it defaults to the Avid Generic can alleviate some issues. I don't recall specifically which ama plugins work better than the Avid default Generic.

If you are on Mac, Pro Res is fine for SD material. Its not just for HD or higher. Adobe really likes GoPro Cineform, which is cross platform and comparable to ProRes and DNX in quality.
Avid is also moving to their own engine, right...or have they done that already?
I saw this on the DS List."Adobe has dropped support for the Meridien 32 bit legacy codecs with CC 2018. Unfortunately we used Meridien compressed a lot to deliver to our Avid editors and to render footage from XDCam to use in various projects.
