I don't think you have this quite right, Jo.
The following *should* get you 10-bit ProRes output from Avid:
1. make sure your timeline is in 10-bit Green mode
2. Mixdown your timeline to ProRes
3. Export mixed down timeline Same-as-source.
*However*, you would be wise to test this on your own particular system
to make sure it works as expected.
