[Avid-L2] Re: Avid Perpetual License vs. Ultimate Add Ons?

Interesting.  That document has been changed from the on Marianna originally posted on Saturday (April 7).  Here is how the original read:

Q: I own Media Composer—what happens to my license?
A: If you own a Media Composer perpetual license, you will not see a change to your
product or pricing (though you will technically own the same feature set as the new Media
Composer | Ultimate, the product name for the Media Composer perpetual license is not
changing). You can continue to renew your 1-Year Software Updates + Support Plan
(formerly known as an Annual Upgrade and Support Plan) for the foreseeable future.
Alternatively, if you want to crossgrade to the Ultimate version, you can, however your
license will become a subscription and cannot transition back to a perpetual license.
Q: What will happen to Media Composer options and add-ons?
A: Software options for Media Composer—including PhraseFind, ScriptSync, and
Symphony—will be available as subscriptions only. Whether you own a Media Composer
perpetual license or subscribe to the new Media Composer software, you will be able to
purchase subscriptions for any of these options to use with Media Composer. For Media
Composer | Ultimate subscribers, these options will be included with your subscription.
The Media Composer | NewsCutter Option is also included with a Media Composer |
Ultimate subscription, or you can purchase a node-locked license for your Media
Composer perpetual license.

This is why I was confused regarding what features were included on a perpetual license.  It states that perpetual license holders own the same feature set as Ultimate.  Obviously, Avid backpedaled on this when they realized they were promising us SS and PF. My perpetual license already includes Symphony and Phrase Find, so I expect I will be able to keep those and continue upgrading, as long as I pay the "Software Updates + Support Plan". The Annual Support Plan that I've been paying for several years now has always been the same cost as Media Composer, with no additional charge for Symphony Option. If they are now expecting me to pay an additional cost for licenses I already own, that's BS.
