[Avid-L2] Re: [Editing-List] Sony Catalyst won't export 23.976 from XDCam50 23.976 disk?

Great Tip.  I will pass this on.

Does that media contain Data tracks as source? If so, the solution is to link to the XDCAM disk, then unlink the clips, modify>source tracks, deselect D, then relink, then transcode. I get this with a lot of Sony media and transcoding, and when it fails I remember to remove the Data track and try again. Works every time.

On our current series there has been an intermittent problem transcoding Consolidated XDCam50 media to DNX36.  The workflow is XDCam50 disk in Sony U2 drive on MacPro consolidate to Nexus storage and then transcode the XDCam 50 consolidated media on the Nexus to DNX36 for offline.  The problem has been cropping up on sporadic disks that the consolidated media won't transcode.  Sometimes going straight from the U2 drive and transcoding to DNX36 will work on the problem media but not always.

Today the AE is trying to rewrap some of the problem clips using Sony Catalyst software.  He has used this process exporting back to XDCam with some of the card based media to eliminate the problem.  Now that he is using the U2 XDCam disk as source the clips are listed as 23.976 which is correct but the only export preset choices he sees are 29.97P or 59.94i.  Why would he be allowed to export to XDCam 23.976 from card based sources but not from XDCam disks in the U2 drive?  We are calling Sony Broadcast Product Support to see if they can help.  Anybody dealt with this.  We are novice in Catalyst so maybe we are missing something very basic.
