Got a note from CC, bitching that a DnxHD 185x file shows banding on what 'should' be 10 bits input files.
Someone made a DnxHD 185x mix down in a 1080i project, while the content was progressive.
CC says that during the mix down stuff was converted from 10 bits to 8 then unconverted to 10.
(I know the CC girl who's bitching, she's a total pro, so if what she sees is bad, it is bad. But why?)
Is there any truth in the Avid mistake on downsampling when going from P to I or should I investigate further?
(I'm not sure what Avid version did do the output, let alone what has happened in between….)
