Re: [Avid-L2] Symphony option promo

I just called Video Guys and they are offering the $99.00 deal but they were premature at posting it as Avid hasn't announced it yet.  Hence the previous listing at 99.00 had to be pulled until the official release time from Avid.  If you call them they will either process your order for 99.00 or give you a promo code to get the 99.00 price when ordering online.

Hi David,

1. The Universal Mastering option requires Nitris DX, or maybe it now also works with DNxIO and DNxIQ. But: only in Digital Cut, playing out in RT.

2. It's not a subscription, but a one-time outright purchase. For the last few years, it was just that, no upgrade fees when you upgrade MC. Can't predict the future decisions of Avid.

I actually like the source-based color correction for offline, as it allows you to grade one instance of shot, where all other instances of that clip or subclip follow automatically — if you want, that is. That's basically the only advantage you get when you're not using the specific hardware.

Not sure why the $99 deal disappeared from the site, but I'd definitely ping them directly.
