For those who don't remember this, and I'm one of them and have never turned it off to sharpen titles here is something I saved a while back regarding this process:
Hi together,
Avid MC adds a Anti Alias Filter on every title in a HD Project. By default It should be turned off but it isn't (thanks to the developer at this point who missed this).
To unable it type
"HDTitleFilter"
without quotes in the console. You should then get a message: Filtering is turned off for all future sessions.
This is a per user setting.
After disabling this soft-filter recreate your titles!
This Filter should help improving the quality of HD Titles which are downscaled to SD. If you don't do a downscaling you should disable it.
Now what if I want to turn this filter back on? How is that done? When it says "Filtering is turned off for all future sessions.
This is a per user setting."
Does this mean everytime I use Avid with my user settings the filter will be disabled or is it future sessions means only in this project. Given it says it's per user setting that would be on all projects wouldn't it? The wording is unclear to me. Is the HDTitleFilter making the HD title softer so it it's downconverted it won't ring too much or cause overshoots because of the harsh edge transitions? So I would want it on if the show is going to be converted to SD and off if not. Well I can't control where my shows go but I guarantee they are all viewed in SD somewhere or even most where if you believe what I've heard in Tektronix seminairs that upwards of 80% of content is still viewed in SD and much of that is the old Channel 3 RF modulator etc...

Graphics, even if the software they were created in already made them SD compliant....making them doubly soft. Unless you know about the console command, you just end up with bad fuzzy graphics

WTF: it's 2016, why the heck I would need anyone to comply to SD?
@Marianna: let them coders know: eitther a documented setting or default to "true" - since this is unacceptable!
Sincerely
Jo
