[Avid-L2] Re: Find and uninstall security updates in OS X 10.10.

Does Avid have a recommended practices for all these tweaks?  I seem to recall someone mentioning there wasn't a comprehensive on for Windows 10 like there has been for other Windows versions.  This is a main reason I've been mac of late as my PC chops have atrophied.  As much is Apple is a pain it's the pain I know.  Is there an equivalent to choosing a startup drive on the windows side of things.  That always seemed much more difficult to have multiple startup drive choices on a PC.  Has that changed or are there some handy utilities that would allow one to have a windows 10 startup for Resolve and keep a windows 7 or 8 for legacy software that works better in that environment.  That is easy in a Mac how is it for PCs these days.

Is there a good source for all the tweaks to Windows 10 that you did?

I personally did not get 'forced' into that OS transition, but the requirement to run Resolve Studio 12.5 pushed me to W10 anyway.  I have just finished upgrading 6 machines from W7 to W10 and I am liking the OS.  Lots of improvements.

However, there are over 50 tweaks that are absolutely necessary to prevent Microsoft from gaining access to private data, to prevent Microsoft from changing your desired settings, and to prevent Microsoft from pushing "promoted" applications to your computer and to your Start menu.

While it is certainly disappointing to see this promiscuous behavior in an operating system -- welcome to the new world where free software equates to YOU being the product.  Meticulous diligence in addressing these tweaks is the solution to running this modern operating system without the risks.

I do pity the vast majority of Windows 10 users that are undoubtedly using the OS out-of-the-box without locking down their world.

You have 30 days to roll back from Windows 10. If you don't want Win 10, I suggest Never10 - I haven't had a nag since using it: GRC | Never10
