[Avid-L2] Playback Stall in Avid 8.5.2 with 4K and DNX 175X media

Jumping into my first 4K project.  Avid Mac Pro 12 core mid 2010 upgraded to 12 core 2x 3.33GHz cpu.  24 gig ram OS 10.9.5 AMD Radeon 5770 GPU and Nitris DX.  Source material is from Panny 4K True 4K  4096x2160 Vlog AVC Intra.

I ama linked and transcoded a 10 minute section to DNxHRHQX and found the playback would stall every couple of seconds.  Media has a LUT Vlog plus Full Scale range to video levels.  I then transcoded the DNxHRHQX to Dnx 175X but still playback stalls every couple of seconds.  I removed the LUT and even pulled a short 10 shot subsequence and still the playback stalls every couple of seconds.

I restarted back to my normal OS 10.8.5 drive running Avid 6.5.4.7 and the same DNX 175X sequence, the full 10 minute one, plays fine with no stalls.  Same computer and storage.  I didn't get a chance to try turning off the hardware when I was on my 8.5.2 startup drive so that will be my next step.  I checked the latest version matrix and things seem reasonable but on this link:
I don't see mention of 8.5.2 and Mac OSX but on this page:
it lists OS 10.9.5
and on this page:
I see 12core 3GHz listed.

Given the DNX 175X plays fine on my normal Avid 6.5.4.7 system although the LUTs and Frame Flex are ignored it seem there is a bug more so than a hardware deficiency.  I remember reading about some 8.5.1 and or 8.5.2 issues that had some people rolling back.  I did have 8.3.1 on this startup drive before but I never did more than a few tests.  Depending on what happens when I disable the hardware I may look to rolling back Avid to see if with will play the media without stalling.  I know my intial test that I believe I did on 8.3.1 playback a short simple sequence of DNxHRHQX without stalling.  The sequences I have now are still simple but have much more material but that still doesn't explain why the sequences that are linked to the DNX 175X media are stalling too.  Really smell like a bug or some strangeness maybe with GPU driver.

Also I don't see mention of the Nitris DX specifically in the links I found on the latest Vmatrix.  Perhaps I'm missing that location or have overlooked it.  So far the Nitris DX seems to be displaying HD to my scope and program monitor with the various pillar box/letter box and masks that I have set so it appears to be working with the exception of stalled playback.  The sequence with the problem has only cuts and no audio.  Anybody seen this whacky behavior.  I just don't understand why the DNX 175X is stalling too.
