This isn't directly about Avid or editing or Turducken, but I think a number of people here may be able to provide some good perspective.

My son has narrowed it down to NYU and Chapman film schools.
Financially, he [was offered some generous scholarship $$ to Chapman]. So on that basis, Chapman wins.
He's not what I'd call an auteur, a great creative mind. It's the process of filmmaking I think he really loves.
I feel as though NYU is more prestigious and a likely source of great connections; but that Chapman is the better playground for someone like my son.
Do you have any thoughts or counsel?

I and my friend (who's a super-sharp guy) get the whole "it's what you make of it" "just go make a film" thing. And all the other concerns. And they can afford NYU...
Would Chapman perhaps be better for someone who may end up more interested in a BTL craft? Is the cool stuff at NYU reserved more for grad/MFA students?
For those of you who may have some first- or close second-hand experience with those two US schools, any insights?
Thanks
Jim
