It just occurred to me that Waveform Height buttons should also be at the bottom of the Timeline Window, right next to "Toggle Client Monitor" or Step In/Out.
Great. Another thing I can accidentally click. :)
While on the subject of accidentally clicking things....I wish there was a way to turn off the pop up timeline audio level sliders without turning off the level display completely. Always accidentally triggering them. Between the smart tool and these audio sliders, it's a mine field unless you have really fat tracks.
