[Avid-L2] OT: Photoshop Update won't open jpegs

Been fighting an Adobe issue that I figure might effect others on this list.  Because I run Mac OS 10.8.5 I have to run CC 2014 on my work system.  Last week the Adobe App manager said there were updates.  Well what could go wrong with that?  I updated and subsequently lost the ability to open jpegs in photoshop.  After googling and Adobe community searching I found threads back to 2014 thru 2015 about this issue and that it is tied to the camera raw plugin.  The suggestion was to reinstall camera raw plugin 9.5 and there was a link.  I tried this along with removing and reinstalling Photoshop but still no go.  I then went to our other Adobe station that had not been updated and found that it has Camera Raw plugin 9.2.  I replace the camera raw 9.5 with 9.2 and voila it works.

Camera Raw plugin is located:  Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plugins/CC/Camera Raw Plugin.\

I did some testing and found that with the 9.5 plugin in place not only could I not open jpegs I couldn't even open the Camera Raw preferences.  Both give an error message about not being able to find a file.  I guess this makes sense because when I open camera raw preferences when using the 9.2 version there are setting relating to how jpegs and tiffs are handled.  So the fact that this 9.5 Camera Raw Plugin can't be found in the first place is why I get the prompt.

Hope this saves someone some grief.  Nothing like losing the ability to open jpegs, something I do every 10 minutes or so.
