Can you step in and see if it's both the fill and matte that are soft or just the matte?

Importing a PNG (and I think other bitmaps as well) with Alpha gives me a very soft result. Even at 1:1.
Source is 1920 x 1080 @ 72 dpi (I remember an old bug where the DPI was in fact important…)
Files without alpha have the same problem.
AMA linking the same PNG gives normal results.
(Sadly, source settings for still AMA files are greyed out, but I can live with that…)
But how is this possible?
Bug in my version? (Windows, 8.3 something)
