I have to say the "L" is one of the main reasons I'm still using Avid. Most of my clients are on Premiere, but every now and then I have to fire up my Avid, just so I remember where everything is, and I have a reason to check out the "L".

Don't think so it was more that the guy who started the L wasn't doing it anymore so avid stepped in and bought it. Back then people worried about impartiality and censorship much more than now so the L-2 was created to assuage those fears.
Least that was my understanding but it happened during a time I had let the avid-l to make a crazy ex girlfriend happy I wasn't wasting my time on the Internet. Turns out I've been with you guys longer than any girlfriend!
