That matches my recent experience. Even with QT Ref into AME I had to switch to RGB. To me given it's a QT Ref linked to what is 601/709 Avid media there is some metadata voodoo that make AME rescale to full range under the hood to make proper level .movs.
This brings me back to a question I've asked before and don't recall if there was a definite answer. When I export a QT Ref from DNX media and use QT Pro to make ProResHQ self contained I end up with a ProResHQ QT that when ama'd back into Avid shows proper video levels. Does this mean the ProResHQ video essence is still 16-235 like the Avid DNX media or does QT Pro Scale up to RGB level in the process of making a self contained .mov? I don't get gamma shifts etc... with this workflow but I have never nailed down if ProRes media should be RGB or 601/709 as a default. I assume both are allowable in the format but the behavior of AME makes me think most of the world expects ProRes to be RGB level.

Mr. Oliver,I have found in order to use AME for a ProRes from a same as source DNX export I have to check the RGB level box but I think I was going Prores out of Avid. What level do you use when exporting DNX same as source. I would think it should be 601/709 normally for DNX but like I said if I didn't check RGB I cam out with low levels like AME wanted full range and just treated the video as if it was when in fact it was 16-235.
