I got a closer look at the 10.9 startup drive and it is 10.9.3. According to the drive I originally cloned from that Avid version is 6.5.4.7. So I assume when I upgraded the cloned drive from 10.8.5 using my usb flash drive installer it was a 10.9.3 install. That must have been the status when I downloaded the installer a while back. So once again I get to learn from my mistakes. Sounds like I should go ahead and upgrade that startup drive to 10.9.5. in case I want to back rev Avid to 6.5.X.

Well that would seem like a cluster flop waiting to happen. I've always assumed once something is qualified all later versions will have the same qualifications. Of course if the OS has changed for a later point release that's another story. I will have to check and see what version of 10.9 I installed and exactly which version of 6.5.4.X I had cloned over.

Actually, John, I don't think all the later versions of 6.5.4 are 10.9 compatible, only the ones specifically patched for the OS version.
The download center is down right at this moment, so I cannot download the readme for the most current version of 6.5.4, but the document I quoted above specifically says that some of those patches are for specific versions of OS only. Just because you are running a newer version doesn't necessarily mean it works with 10.9.
