I am no expert, but I did attend a tour and a talk in a projection room
sponsored by our local chapter of SMPTE. (a year or two ago).
The pre-show ads were playing off a DVD.
The studio-release movies get downloaded with so much encryption and DRM
that make it impossible to play the movie except at the times approved
by the releasing studio. It didn't seem like there would be an easy way
to add local DCP content.
