A friend also chimed in, so I thought I'd pass this along. You may want to invest in a Lion 10.7.5 update on your home system from Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Unlike Windows, Mac OS updates are so painless and seamless, even when not 'clean' installed from scratch. My friend tells me it took less than 40 minutes unattended, and since then, her legacy Final Cut Pro 7 and PremierePro CS 5.5 run smoother with less crashes, as well as her Avid 5.5.5.
The only negative is that Lion takes longer to boot-up than Snow Leopard on her workstation. One would believe that Lion would run your MC ver7 better than Snow Leopard.
