Posting this to FCP-L and Avid L-2. I've been doing the QC shuffle tests with FCP balking at reading file all my other programs read. The problem is that FCP 7 misses several frames of the audio at the top of the file. I created an FCP 7 project and brought in the files QC was flagging and I could recreate what they were seeing.
Today after deleting many of the FCP 7 projects referenced files I find when I open FCP 7 it hangs some time after telling me it can't detect a firewire device and I click continue. The FCP 7 preference was default to open the last project opened. I'm figuring by deleting several of the test files the project referenced FCP 7 is now searching for the files and either hanging or this takes a long time to exhaust the search.
I unmounted my media drives and restarted my mac pro 2010 souped up to 12 core and I still get the stall but with the media drives offline/unmounted I get a prompt fcp is searching for a tone .mxf file. I click ignore or whatever the dialogue is and then it hangs again with a spinning ball.
I deleted the project I'd been using but FCP7 still hangs, or is it doing a long search for media? Is there a way to delete a preference file or something so FCP 7 will forget it is supposed to open a previous project? I know that behavior can be changed once FCP 7 launches but I can't get it to launch now.
I would have thought the missing files would just trigger the reconnect box which I was getting when opening the project last week as a few files that I had initially used have been deleted. I'm going to go into google mode but figured those with FCP 7 chops must have seen this behavior and have a suggestion or two. TIA
