I've never used the control button to get the numeric box up. I just highlight the record or source window and start typing numbers and the box pops up. Is there a benefit to using the control key? I've never used it for this.

Can anyone repeat what I think may be a bug in v8.4?
Here're the details:
MY SYSTEM:
MacBook Pro Laptop – Late 2011 – I'm waiting to upgrade when Apple finally releases the new MBP with Skylake.
MC v 8.4
Mac OS v10.8.5 – I'm aware that this is not MC v8.4's recommended OS.
New User Settings
New MCState
Rebuilt Permissions
Existing Project, created in v8.3
ISSUE (Bug?):
Steps:
1. Select/Enable the Source Window (Record Window works as expected).
2. Double-Tap the Control key, and no numeric entry box appears. I only get the 'bonk' sound effect.
FYI: Enter Trim Mode: Double-Tap the Control key and the entry box does appear as expected.
TWO FEATURE REQUESTS RELATED TO THE ABOVE FEATURE:
1.
Please provide a button function that will make the Numeric Entry Box appear without having to double-tap the Control key. As a button, that would allow the editor to map it wherever is most convenient for them. The double-tap is frustrating as it slows down the work, and the 'bonk' that accompanies it is misleading, since there has been no error made by the editor (and, OK, I'll say it… the 'bonk' is also really annoying). In Trim Mode I understand why the 'bonk' is potentially a benefit: to alert the editor that they can now enter a value. I suggest replacing the 'bonk' with Trim Mode's numeric entry box becoming highlighted as white.
2.
Please allow being able to type a Plus Symbol ("+") on a laptop _without_ having to hold the Shift key. It really slows things down, trimming especially.
FOUR OTHER FEATURE REQUESTS ON MY MIND AT THE MOMENT:
1.
Ability to Tab through a tabbed set of Bin Windows or a tabbed set of Tool Windows (e.g. in the same way I can Control-Tab through multiple open tabs in a web browser).
2.
Programming it so that "Command +," and "Command –" will trigger all the same behaviors as "Command L," and "Command K." I suggest leaving the legacy programming (K/L) for those with that ingrained in their brains, but to _add_ the +/- programming in order to jibe with common usage, and user expectations . . . and to save a lot of folks (like me) hourly (half-hourly?) frustration (and made even more frustrating while bouncing between MC and Adobe apps).
3A and 3B.
Making the dB levels that appear at the bottom of the Timeline Window appear as the same green as the TC readout in the Toolbar (or letting the editor select the display color would be even better). That white is hard to read against the lighter gray. Another thought is to steal a design element from FCP and place the dB value right next to the cursor arrow in a similar way that Adobe Photoshop displays coordinate information when making a Marquee selection, for example. Then it's like a Heads-Up Display, and is much more convenient for the editor than having to glance down all the time.
Thanks for listening . . .
Cheers,
Benjamin
