That is one of the advantages I have found with the T-Tap. Usually the drivers stay current and consistent so you don't have that dance and the upgrade thing hasn't been an issue for me..

There's a bit of a merry dance upgrading/downgrading too - Avid requires them be installed before MC is installed, Premiere is the opposite. (IIRC)
