From the 8.4 ReadMe:
Any customer that has previously activated a v8 license will need to re-activate their current license when they want to upgrade to Media Composer v8.3 or higher. Dongle customers will also need to re-update their dongle. For more information, please see the Media Composer Support Contract License Update FAQ knowledge base article.

From above FAQ:
- If the software build date is earlier than the license's current upgrade and support plan expiration date, Media Composer will run.
- If the software build date is later than the license's current upgrade and support plan expiration date (e.g. the upgrade and support plan expired before the software update was released), Media Composer will not run.
Licenses will need to be updated (re-activated) once per year any time after the upgrade and support plan is renewed. Customers only need to update their license, however, when they are ready to upgrade to the next release of software. They do not need to re-activate their license as soon as their upgrade and support plan has been renewed.

I thought I read otherwise that 8.4 required a new blast but I'm going from memory. I have blasted to 8.3 but haven't upped it after that. If only there was someone monitoring this list that can make dog treats and provide dongle update information to the masses. Hmmm if only.....
