After hearing the bit about the mixer having brought in thousands of mixes and that this was all my problem...about an hour and half later I got the email that everything was fine.
My guess is that it had to do with the difference between clip gain and volume automation. Thanks again John!

There are options in ProTools about some of the levels it imports. Automation Gain can be used or ignored IIRC. Some of the options have expanded in later versions of ProTools.
