We don't have any mixers in any of our video editing suites.
But what we do have are passive speakers driven by high quality hi-fi amplifiers, and we use the source selector to switch between sources. The original configuration was Kona monitor out, DigiBeta monitor out, VHS/DVD recorder out, MacPro monitor out.
Simple, logical, easy to understand for casual freelancers.
