Re: [Avid-L2] MacPro or MacBook Pro?

DNxHD115 media was about 4TB. (transcodes from RED and renders and music/sound effects and field audio)

RAW RED footage was maybe 8 or 10 TB? I think we had a 12TB RAID that had all of the RED RAW footage (4K and some 5K) from two cameras PLUS the transcoded Avid media (done by the DIT).

The project file was … half a gig?

A guy once sent me a major "tentpole" Hollywood movie Avid project and it was 1.2 gigs. - I'm talking about JUST the Avid project folder.

On the film I just got off, we had media backed up on off-site LTOs, an off-site RAID and three separate on-site RAIDs. Projects while we were on-set were also backed up to the LTOs and to three different USB thumb drives that went home with three different people. Once we got a permanent home we used some cloud storage backup solution that the IT guy had researched. Every hour, the entire Avid project was backed up to the cloud. There was also a cloud backup of a folder that held various source files (music, sfx, graphics) The Avid project file was also saved locally on three different Macs.
