I don't know, have not touched Encore since i had to pay for it again.
AFAIK Encore is end of life, and you need PP to get it.
But if you have it, and it works, why not use it?
TMPG is just plain easy to use, and fine for one-offs / screeners.
(It can do menu stuff, but have not dived into it yet, since i probably only need subtitles on/off.)
btw, creating your own M2TS and jack it into a Blu-ray player on a memory stick is for free....
(But not all players have USB ports)
