I'd guess that embedding is about running less audio cable. One sdi goes 300' to a room. De-embed audio there and run two 3' audio cables that don't have to be run through troughs or walls. OR if the monitor can do the split, you don't have to have a de-embedder at all

Hmm295 sounds cheap, but it also can get you half a mile of audio cable.I don't see the logic in de-embedders for studio setups if audio outputs are also available on your box.less hardware is less trouble, less energy consumption, less heat, less worries about sync.(And probably less installation costs. OK, I have to correct myself here. 295 gets you a BMD box that extracts 8ch of AES. I had no idea that prices for solutions like that had dropped so much.
So, why even bother with 4 analog audio outs?
