I'm not saying IO has the perfect number of anything. That's impossible anyway, but hammering on analog IO is kind of pointless. I've got an analog mixer I use to monitor so I need at least two analog for that plus I often record scratch tracks from an analog mic, so that "mistake" is only maybe two outputs. I agree about needing more digital audio options. I don't know about that optical audio. Most might not use it but some might.

By that logic, Mike, what on earth is the use of 4ch of analog audio I/O? What is it for? If they do feel the need to add analog audio outs, why 4? Why not 2 or 6 or 8?
By the way, most folks I know have separate audio outs, running those through a mixer or monitor controller. Mixers or controllers supporting embedded audio cost several times what this box costs.

I don't know anyone that runs more than a single pair of sdi cables to a suite. Embedded audio isn't a new thing!
