No worries — I really hate how Avid handles stills, and it's unfortunate that one should have to buy third party software for a decent move.
For what it's worth, I have managed to make linear path zoom-ins using Frameflex in MC Version 8 —also using advanced keyframes and bezier interpolation — but can't remember if that worked in version 7.
