Re: [Avid-L2] Re: AMA of Sony Ex3 files

Are you sure it was copied correctly? Without proper SxS drivers you likely copied only part of the folder structure.

Check if you are linking to the correct folder level (above "BPAV" if I remember correctly).

No illegal characters, including drive name in OS X.

Select the Sony AMA plugin manually.

Hopefully one of these will fix your issue.

If the files are .mxf from the camera you might have to manually select the ama plugin choice to mxf instead of auto detect.  I don't recall if that applies to EX 3 footage but it's worth a shot.  Also sometimes file path will impede ama linking.  If possible put the contents on the desktop and try to ama from there.   Just guessing out loud but worth a shot.

Hi All,

I had a quick shoot over the weekend with a Sony Ex3. Card was copied
intact.

The files generated don't want to AMA into the two different Mac Avids
7.0.4 Avids I tried them on.

I downloaded and installed the latest Sony AMA plugin on both. The
Read Me says it supports Ex3 and MC 7.0.4.

I can open the files in the Sony Catalyst Browser (which btw does
support batch transcoding - the trick is to select the material in
Browse which allows for multiple file selection and not View which only
allows for one file at a time.) The files are apparently fine.

I can transcode them to ProRes in Catalyst and be done with it but I was
curious if anyone else was having problems.

Thanks,

Dan
