Sorry Greg, I don't know the answers to the stuff about LTFS because I found it too cumbersome and unreliable. I do know that you can pull the catalog off the last tape of your set in the current version, and I believe in the worst case scenario you can re-scan old tapes to build a catalog.
Also BRU PE will create a "restore" CD or USB stick with a copy of the catalog and the backup software, so you can send to a client who doesn't own the software, and they can restore. I don't know about a "discovery" mode either. Tolis group's tech support and sales are quite willing to answer any questions you may have. I recommend you shoot them an e-mail.

Do networks accept BRU for delivery? The original poster was looking for recommendations for delivering LTO 5. I jumped to the conclusion that he was delivering to a discovery network - which is an extremely specific spec. But what other networks require LTO delivery?
And does BRU allow you to archive to LTFS if you need to? Or is their LTFS read-only? Does it have a 'Discovery' mode? I stopped using BRU because I lost my catalog drive. I understand now that there's a way to recover the index without the catalog (or whatever they call the database).
Have you been able to do that?

HP drive is about 2,500.00, BRU PE is 500 plus I recommend a year of support for an additional 100 bucks. HBA card is about 400.00.Dave HoganBurbank, CAOn Saturday, March 7, 2015 10:13 AM, "Steve Hullfish Steve@veralith.com [Avid-L2]" <Avid-L2@yahoogroups.com> wrote:
