Yes, it is sad. But Apple makes products the way they think they should be made, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.
Avid seems to blow around in the wind. "Okay, we are going to work on the color corrector.. no wait, we just got a call from NBC." 6 months later "We are almost finished with NBC's request, it is about 80 % done… oh wait, we just got a call from CBS" etc., etc.
