Re: [Avid-L2] Media Composer 8 and Decklink

By uninstalling BMD and MC and the reinstalling solved everything for us.  BTW, the 10.1.4 drivers seems a LOT better with 8.1

We're having the same problem here. I uploaded and installed the latest Desktop app for BMD... I even uninstalled and reinstalled it and Avid will not play through the Mini Display via Thunderbolt. All other things have been checked and double checked. The cables are fine. The TV is actually seeing the BMD because if you change the output setting on the BMD preferences pane, the TV sees the change in resolution, so the BMD is definitely outputting to the TV, but the Avid is not feeding the BMD.

As has already been mentioned in this thread you have to install the BM video desktop software (driver) after Avid is installed.  I've made this mistake when upgrading Avid with existing BM video desktop software installed.  Also you must uninstall the video desktop software before reinstalling it.  The uninstall is part of the disk image for the install IIRC.  If you upgraded the Avid but didn't reinstall the BM driver desktop video you will have issues.

IT is a 8core 3,1.  The BM MediaExpress app sees the card and captures just fine.  It's just AVID that doesn't allow us to use the card.

How old are the mac pros?  We had problems with a BM card on an older mac pro that wasn't 64 bit compatible.  The BM driver was 64 bit so we had to swap the mac pro for a newer unit.  Make sure your macpro can handle 64 bit.  system info will list the 64 bit kernel or something like that to let you know.  From memory I believe you need a mac pro 3.1 or higher to do 64 bit.  Someone please correct or confirm this information as I'm going from memory

We just upgraded to Media Composer 8.1 Most of our systems are iMacs using the thunderbolt mini monitor and they seem to work. One has a thunderbolt ultra studio and it digitizes as well as outputs. We have two older mac pro's with deckling cards in them. All the systems are running 10.8.5, MC 8.1 and BM 10.1.2. AVID on the Mac Pro! s sees the Blackmagic cards in the console, but when we go to use the Digitize tool, BM is greyed out under the audio and video inputs. Our projects settings are 1080i, 1920x1080. Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks,
Scott
