Thanks for clearing that up.

Does this mean that we will only be able to apply AAX as track based effects? I like to be able to apply an audio effect to a single clip and losing this feature is (in my opinion) a backward step.

Not knowing for sure, what I can tell you is that there is a huge difference between AudioSuite and RTAS. I believe that AAX64 is replacing RTAS, but I would be surprised if AudioSuite went away.

Page 3 clearly states that the 64 bit AAX architecture replaces RTAS. I bet this has annoyed a few users who have recently bought RTAS plugins as it that wasn't long ago that these were introduced into MC. Audiosuite plugin support appears to have also been dropped if you read the section that says..

'Media Composer 8.1 will install AAX replacements that are fully compatible with the RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins that were provided by default in previous versions of Media Composer. RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins that you may have purchased on your own are NO LONGER COMPATIBLE with this and future versions of Media Composer.'

However, on the same page it says...

'There are a number of new plug-ins:
• New for AudioSuite: Channel Strip, Eleven Free, Maxim, Mod Delay III, SansAmp PSA-1'

If it is the case that Audiosuite plugin support has been dropped and AAX is a track-based effect, how does one add an audio effect to a clip? I know I could move the audio clip to a new track and add the AAX effect there, but this becomes a real pain if you're adding a lot of clip effects (that all have slightly different settings) as each clip requires its own track.
