Cut to all the happy folks when Apple crapped all over the FCP 7 crowd by dropping it like a hot potato for a not ready for prime time product. It's truly a double edged sword that cuts both ways. Have we forgotten all the angst I read about Apple putting all the FCP resources toward iPhone and iPads because they made more money with them. Whether that was true or not I don't know but I remember talking about it.

The flip side of that argument is if I am a new user (which Avid needs desperately), why am I going to plunk down my $299 for MC8 and every year after, knowing that some of my money I spend is being used to fix patches for old software? I could really care less that NBC (or insert your big user here) wants (free) fixes to a version 5 or 6 product. I am getting in on MC8 and I expect the fee I pay every year is to push development forward, not to satisfy a customer that refuses to plunk down the cash and effort to stay up to date. At least I know that my $299 spent with Apple on X is not funding old products. Just another viewpoint from a small shop perspective.
