AMA link recognizing alpha channel started in v7. There is now a more extensive AMA user setting, where it shows the familiar Alpha: Invert / Don't Invert / Ignore. Choose Ignore.

"I've had to disable alpha from linking on all my systems"I haven't installed my Ver. 7 upgrade yet. When did alpha linking with ama start? How does one disable it? I'm assuming it would be in the ama settings but I'm not on a system now?

And no one can explain why you can't transcode an AMA with alpha. Why introduce a great feature that's half thought out? I've had to disable alpha from linking on all my systems because it can't be transcoded. And I've had zero response from Avid about that one.I'm also on board with AMA for what it can do, and hope it can get better. But it always seems like two steps forward, two steps back.

If you are listening Avid, not everyone feels this way. Solid linking is critical for my workflows. Importing will not cut it. I've been linking for the last five years in FCP. Importing everything would be a wildly impractical backward step. And I remain optimistic, though progress is much slower than I had hoped. Linking has improved even from 7.0.2 to 7.0.4.
