1000VA is usually sufficient for most desktop users.

Hi all,
I want to get a small, inexpensive UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for my Media Composer workstation but am unsure how big it needs to be. i.e what the max loading should be.
My MC is running on a Dual Quad core HPz800 (chips are x5560 2.8 x 16)
24Gb of memory
with NVidia Quadro 4000
4 x internal SATA drives Seagate 2Tb Expansion drives
1 x Samsung 250Gb SSD
Matrox MX02LE on PCI
I think the PSU is rated at 850w but some z800's had 1110w.
Basically I just want something that will keep the machine on long enough for it to shut down safely if the power goes off. (2 or 3 mins)
I know that without measuring the power draw with a meter i am never going to know for sure, but hoping somebody may have already done this with a typical setup.
thanks
Nick
