Oh, I've always been a curves man. The fact is that it's of course completely necessary in Avid to be a Curves man because there are no other real tools to change the highlights midtones and shadows of the red, green and blue channels. On a Resolve, they pooh-pooh curves, but they have individual pots to change the RGB highlights, gamma and shadow. Without those controls you HAVE to resort to Curves. 


And if Mick is still following this thread, he can attest to the fact that I BOASTED about Terry Curren using Curves to do awesome color correction very quickly. I gave you props, my friend!

When I first got introduced to the Curves interface during the beta of Symphony, that was my go-to interface from the very beginning. Spending time learning color correction from Da Vinci colorists swung me away from them for a short time, but in reality, on Avid, you have no choice but to use Curves for many things.
