steve and job have my vote, particularly job - using keyframed clip gain (both avid and pro tools) is by far the best and fastest way to a rough mix. deal with the problems later using specialized plugs - compress, gate, expand, denoise, etc.

I know it pumps the sound but if you use the clip with the same settings on the same track, the volume greatly changes based on the duration of the track. Just wondering what the best Audio sweet plug in to for low audio levels.
