Re: [Avid-L2] Upgrading Symphony 6.5.x and MC 6.5.x to Ver 7 before MC 8 comes out?

NewBlue Titler Pro is v1 all the way if included in MC. MC7 has v1, assume MC8 will as well.

As I understand it you can keep your perpetual license, dongle or software activation, but if you skip a version then you start from scratch with the full price of the software.  In Avid speak they are getting away from "versions" as the upgrade motivator and it's more of an annual contract or monthly contract etc...  The difference between the subscription scheme and the perpetual license is that if you stop renewing your perpetual license it will continue to work at the version it's at where as a subscription will stop working after a grace period.  It seems to me it's really the 3rd party plugins/apps bundle that might make the upgrade to V 7 before V8 is out something to consider.

Also if I understood correctly as long as you are not on Express DV or Avid meridian the upgrade to V8 will be the same price without the more recent trend of costing more if you have an older version.  I sent my original post to marianna for clarification and I'll post it here when I hear from her.  Or maybe she can just post here and skip my mandatory dog and OKI dog tangents.  ;-)
