[Avid-L2] Re: Avid's biggest challenges

Bringing Media Composer into the modern world and make it relevant to new editors. At a minimum, this means:

Pristine image quality
Resolution independence with easy access (see FCP 7, X, PPro)
World-class color correction
Easy file-based workflow (see FCP 7, X, PPro)
Advanced/fast clip review features - skimming, filmstrip views, load-to-viewer without clicking
XML interchange
Easy relinking (see PProCC)
Built-in hi-res/proxy workflow (see FCP X)
Easy WYSIWYG titler (see FCP X, PProCC)
Revitalized third-party plug-in ecosystem
Collapse audio tracks feature
Easily applied source/timeline LUT effects
Source-side effects
Built-in keystroke macros (user defineable)
Batch application of effects - source side and timeline
Copy/paste attributes
Mocha-style tracker
Masking with tracking - also in color corrector
Simplified user operation - fewer steps/keystrokes for all function throughout
All frame rates, sizes, scan types and codecs mixable in an project and timeline

That's just for starters.

Also - active involvement by product managers, designers and engineers with various communities, forums, etc. Users respect companies that interact with them. People hate that Apple is silent. People liked Adobe until they received no answers to the subscription concerns.
