Actually, you NEVER want to use a previous User profile with a new system.
Weird behavior is pretty typical of trying to use an old user setting with a new system whether you import it or just let the system automatically use it as part of an update.
I would suggest that you create a brand new user setting as soon as you have spare time and to ditch the old setting as soon as possible.
