[Avid-L2] v7 Update Tip

My system:
MacBook Pro
10.7.5
2.5 GHz / 8 Core / i7
8GB RAM

Hi all,

So, I've installed the trial version of MC7 (moving from 6.5.2).
I'm not very far in yet, but I already have an FYI or two to ease others potential pain:

1-
Be sure to backup your Pre-version 7 User Profile before opening v7 for the first time (below is why).

2-
Move your pre-version 7 User Profile *out* of the Avid Users folder.

3-
Before launching, I suggest trashing the MCState file in your
User Settings -and- the one that may exist in the MC Settings folder right after installation (it's weird, I know).

4-
Launch MC7.
Rather than Update your User Profile (http://tinyurl.com/kn2j9yu),
*Import* your User Profile.

WHY:
The first several times I "Updated," I saw that 2 keyboard settings
were active at the same time (it shouldn't be able to do that):

Long story short, after various experimentation/fiddling, my customized keyboard would either totally disappear or would get reset to default. However, I had consistent success by Importing, rather Updating. I have not checked the impact on other settings. So there you go . . .

Hopefully now I can survive the long AMA init and get past the beach ball of death when I apply the New Blue Titler effect to Filler, so I can check it out. Wish me luck :/

Cheers,

B
