Oh, believe me, I'm used to it- the only 'big iron' we have is an SR machine. (Gotta prop the door open with something, right?) My company wouldn't exist if it weren't for 'desktop' editing on 'personal' computers.
It's just that I don't want that many friggin' MORE loose cables on my desk top! I like shared storage, internal expansion capabilities... you know... the little comforts... and the ability to exploit my existing 'small tin' a little longer would be nice, too. It's the radical departure from the current model of professional computer that I find distasteful. (Said the Dinosaur as the snow began to fall / meteor struck / etc.)
Then again, change is usually fun. We'll see.
