OK Ken, I'll back off my Avid-L style crankiness; sorry and I owe you a beer. You make a good point about Thunderbolt speed. I'm sure others are more on top of this than I but apparently the current Thunderbolt interfaces are perhaps 40% faster than the first-generation.

I think the deal with the Pegasus RAID is it's fairly cheap (12TB for $2250 or so), easy to install, works with a laptop, leaves both USB3 ports on a MBP open for other stuff (client drives and what not), and is fast enough at RAID 5 for lots of work.
