Sorry for being cryptic. It happens on start up. I don't even get to open apps. Resetting pram seems to fix but this should not be happening. Im on OS10.8.2. Same thing with any usb mouse or wireless mouse. Its not a hardware issue with keyboard or mouse as far as I can tell.
I would suspect bluetooth but keyboard is hardwired.
Good idea on the mouse plugged into keyboard so I will switch that out and see what happens next time.
