Well I removed all the "/"'s and changed the date 11/4/12 to 110412 and I was able to link to ama volume when I booted back on OS 10.6.8. I then restarted saving this ama bin and went back to 10.8.3 OS. The ama bin created with 10.6.8 still worked in 10.8.3 and I'm using it to transcode directly without need clip wrap to make .mov's. I tried to create a new bin using link to ama volume but once again when I right clicked on the avchd icon it only showed "quick look" with no option to show package contents. On 10.6.8 I only had to highlight the "card1" folder and the ama volume mount worked perfectly showing me a bin of H.264 clips which I am now transcoding to DNX 220. The avid transcode seems to be moving much faster than the clip wrap to .mov process did, although I'm not being scientific about it the clip wrapping the 91 clips to .mov's took approx 1.5 hours and only 12 ish minutes in the transcoding is on clip 34 of 90. That's huge given I would have to take the .mov's and then import them or link ama and transcode them to DNX 220 which would easily be another hour plus to do.
Out of curiousity if I use Clip Wrap and take the .mts and convert to an Avid DNX 220 .mov could I just link to those .mov's via ama and consolidate as opposed to transcoding? Given the .mov's are already in the DNX 220 wouldn't a consolidate just rewrap in a more robust .mxf file that Avid can handle like regular Avid media. I know with XDCam and other native codecs you can just consolidate to avid media and get full advantage of avid's media handling strength without having to transcode but in the case of a DNX 220 QT .mov would the consolidate do the same thing and would it be better than transcoding the media that is already DNX 220?
It is really seeming like these avchd files will not volume or file link ama even if I right click. Has anybody got that to work in 10.8.3 or 10.8.2? I tried the recipe I already posted from avid but I can't get it to show contents packing from within the avid program only on the finder level.
