I just checked, and the HFPA-XL is now called HFPA-Xlite. It's a
single-user file-based tester for small shops such as ours. It appears that
the full range of Harding solutions are now available for either HD/SD or SD
only. No doubt they'll find some kind of justification to charge more for
the HD versions...

Also a lot of people use an SD Harding to test HD programmes via the
downconverted output of their decks. There is an HD Harding available (is
this the HFPA XL you're talking of Tony?). I'm sure differences in 601/709
must have some impact on test results so it's another layer of confusion.

" Was it a free update? "
I was beta testing the HFPA XL at the time and they sent me an FOC update,
but I have no idea if it's free to everyone. Why not drop Don a line?
Cheers,
Tony
