Yup. Only cuts and dissolves and a 30 frame diss took 30 secs to
render. If you wanted slo-mo we would reach back to the 3/4" , grab
the shuttle knob, get a slo-mo that made sense, ok it with the client
and then capture w/o timecode. If that slo-mo wasn't good enough we'd
do it again.
Also, after the offline day, we'd make an edl and go into a gvg 3/4"
conform room and conform the edit. This was because the picture
quality was so bad ( think bad mosaic) you couldn't really see where
people were looking, or even show that rough cut to an agency or an
artist ( if it was a music video)
Finally jpeg came.
I remember being excited because the new rmags ( remember those?)
we're coming. They were full size (5 1/2 inches and full hight( around
4 inches) and they cost $6500 for a 1/2 gig drive.
I remember thinking, what the heck are we gonna put on a 1/2 gig drive !
Btw I also used to walk to school uphill...both ways! Sometimes still do!
