In Italy the major mobile phone service providers (Tim, Vodafone, Wind) prepaid card's prices are mostly the same, and they all work well in major cities, Tim having the best coverage in rural areas, Wind having the best deals, with Vodafone in between; for international calls the caller pays like a local phone call and the receiver pays as well, mostly as a local call either, or depending on her/his phone company arrangements, but international phone calls may not be available at all with the least expensive prepaid sim cards, so make sure that You read the fine prints. Stay away from "3" or "Tre": costly but with no service in too many areas.
